Subtitles
Loaded Films has considerable experience in subtitling Japanese feature films for foreign film festivals and sales purposes. Subtitling is a particular craft that entails capturing the essence of film language as naturally as possible in the required time, both remaining faithful to the original creators' intentions and making the film accessible and enjoyable for foreign viewers. Feedback from audiences, festival programmers and sales results for films we have worked on has helped us develop strong relationships with some of Japan's major motion picture producers.

Screenplays/Treatments/Project Proposals
Loaded Films has experience in translating screenplays, treatments and project proposals for both major production companies and individual writer-directors such as Sabu and Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Standard "Hollywood" formatting and writing style differs in many respects from industry-accepted Japanese conventions. Loaded Films can ensure your creative document is ready for professional evaluation whether you're translating from Japanese to English or vice versa.

Press Materials/Film Festival Catalogues/Industry Publications
Straight translation of press and promotional materials often result in materials that don't fully convey a film's appeal in the intended market. Loaded Films has press and publicity experience both in Japan and overseas, enabling us to write about films in a language potential buyers and festival programmers can grasp easily.
Loaded Films has provided translation for festivals including TOKYO FILMeX, The Tokyo International Film Festival and Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival as well as UniJapan's annual "Japanese Film" catalogues. Special attention to detail is key with such materials, particularly with names and film titles.
Consultation
Compared to other mature film markets, the Japanese movie industry may seem impenetrable, with a dearth of materials in English. Loaded Films can assist with everything from industry data mining, analysis, film research, film festival programming consultation and co-production assistance. Please contact us for pricing and other inquiries.
